American Showstoppers

Who doesn’t love a great show tune? The Schimmel Center is proud to host arranger and producer Fred Barton’s taste of American Broadway in the form of American Showstoppers: An Evening with Harold Arlen. As a composer and respected contributor to the Great American Songbook, Arlen is known for his work on The Wizard of Oz, including the iconic “Over The Rainbow”, among many other fantastic songs and tunes. Barton will be bringing Arlen’s work to life with the help of a full 12-piece orchestra and many friends, all known as stars on the Broadway stage.

Among the guests accompanying Barton includes: Vivian Reed (2-time Tony nominee, Bubbling Brown Sugar, Marie Christine); Luba Mason (Chicago, Jekyll & Hyde, Capeman, How To Succeed); Anastasia Barzee (City Of Angels, Miss Saigon, Jekyll & Hyde); Ryan Silverman (Phantom of The Opera, Rebecca, Cry-Baby); Tari Kelly (Anything Goes, The Boy from Oz, Show Boat); Damon Kirsche (Encores’ Ziegfeld Follies Of 1936, On A Clear Day); and N’Kenge (Motown, Sondheim On Sondheim).

This will be an event not to miss for every Broadway fan. Tickets are still available for the show, which takes place Friday, October 19. Read on after the jump and find a video of the Fred Barton Orchestra performing “You’re Following Me” with Elena Bennett.
