Hugh Masekela

ARTISTS HOME PAGE 8-8_Page_20

Calling all world and jazz music fans: we have a big treat for you and his name is Hugh Masekela! Known for his extensive career and Grammy award-winning song “Grazing in the Grass,” The Schimmel Center could not have thought of a better way to end our 2012-2013 Pace Presents season (and we’re hoping you feel the same way too!)

Celebrating the release of last year’s Grammy award-nominated album Jabulani, Masekela’s performance will be indicative of his five decade spanning career. It is not everyday when Rolling Stone calls a performer “one of the most thrilling live performers around…” so do not miss the chance to see Masekela make music history at the Schimmel Center!

Be sure to get your tickets to the April 20 performance on The Schimmel Center’s website or our box office. Below you will find some videos of Masekela performing.

WEB_SIZE_Ultima_Vez_

Described as a “brutal confrontation of dance and music,” Wim Vandekeybus’ Ultima Vez will celebrate its 25th anniversary with a world tour, making a stop at the Schimmel Center on March 22-23. Predicating itself on the emotions that come from “intensity of moments when you don’t have a choice, when other things decide for you,” Vandekeybus’ work focuses on a loss of control, weaving together kinetic choreography with frenetic musical tenacity.

Tickets for the show’s two night run are still available via Schimmel’s website or box office. For more information on this production, head on over to the Ultima Vez website. Be sure to watch the video of Ultima Vez’s What The Body Does Not Remember, found below.
